Citizens Police Academy
This is your chance to take a look at your police department, the Rice University Police Department, from the inside–out to learn how a police agency operates.
You will learn what the officers learn specifically focusing on the History of Policing, Crime Prevention, the Criminal Justice System, Traffic Law, and Police Technology.
In addition, you will be trained in the conduct of traffic stops, the criminal investigations process, crime scene processing, how to conduct building searches, and what is involved in dignitary protection operations.
There is no charge to attend this class. The Citizens Police Academy program is sponsored and conducted by the Rice University Police Department for members of our communities so you can more fully understand the workings of the police and criminal justice system.
There will be a 25-person maximum enrollment. Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
