Dear campus colleagues,

Travel on campus in the areas of the West Quad will be significantly impacted by the Baker Institute's 30th anniversary gala on Thursday, October 26.

The following areas of campus will be affected from approximately 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.:

  • Entrance 20 will be closed to incoming traffic.
  • Alumni Drive will be closed to regular vehicle traffic from the Wiess College Magister House to the intersection with Campanile Road.
  • College Way/Loop Road will be closed to regular traffic from the intersection with Entrance 8 Drive to the intersection with Alumni Drive.
  • The North Lot and North Annex will be closed to incoming vehicles to provide parking for the event. Vehicles parked in the lot can exit campus via Entrance 20 or 21.

During the closure, RUPD personnel will be stationed at the intersections of Alumni Drive at Lab Road and Alumni Drive at College Way to facilitate the safe travel of pedestrians and vehicles. During the event, no-parking rules on College Way will be strictly enforced.

Due to heightened security measures, the area around James A. Baker III Hall, Jamail Plaza and the Turrell Skyspace will also be closed from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Rice shuttle routes will be adjusted to provide service during the road closures. Additional shuttle information will be posted at http://www.rice.ridesystems.net/.
