Patch Requests

Since September 11, 2001 there have been many concerns regarding security measures and those concerns have been felt throughout the United States.  Terrorism is now in the forefront of everyone's mind and we at the Rice University Police Department are also aware of the many flaws that increase security risks.  It is with deep regret that the Rice University Police Department has made the decision to withdraw from sending our patches outside of our department.  We have seen with more frequency the posting of not only ours but that of other agencies patches on E-Bay.  We feel this could become a security threat not only to us but any agency that has a large outlying supply of Police patches available to those who would do harm to our community or country.  It is very sad indeed when you cannot afford to take the chance to trade patches with your brother officers without the fear of this small item being used to possibly hurt others.

Once again we thank those of you who understand our concerns about our community and country and would like to say that if you are ever in our area, please do not hesitate to stop by and say "Hello", have a cup of coffee and visit with us.
