RUPD periodically offers in-service training. These classes are held between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise stated. Classes have included Firearms Training, Commercial Crime Prevention, CIT Refresher Course, TABC Underage Drinking Prevention Training, F.R.I.D.A.Y. Training, Eyewitness Evidence and Human Trafficking in Texas. For a list of current or upcoming classes, please visit our Police In-Service Training page.

RUPD also offers a Citizens Police Academy. This class provides a information on how a police agency operates. There is no charge to attend the class, but it is limited to the first 25 enrollment participants. Visit the Citizens Police Academy page for more information.

Upcoming classes:  

  • TCOLE  Course  #3284, Hate Crimes , 4 hour class  from 0800 to 1200 hours, February 9th 2017. The course will be conducted by Dena Marks, Associate Director Anti-Defamation League Houston.
